Michael “Mac” McGinnis
Michael McGinnis came to First Bankers’ Banc Securities, Inc. (FBBS) as a Vice President in the Fall of 2022. Prior to joining FBBS, Michael was employed as a managing director and southeast sales manager of B. Riley Securities, Inc.’s Fixed Income Capital Markets division. He brings over 40 years of experience in the fixed income industry where he developed an extensive background across all levels of institutional and retail sales, investment banking, underwriting and trading across a wide range of non-taxable and taxable securities.
Michael leverages his knowledge and experience to provide clients with strategic portfolio management reflective of the highly regulated environment. His clientele includes banks, savings and loans, credit unions, insurance companies, pension funds, investment advisors, mutual funds, hedge funds, public funds, and individuals.
Previously, McGinnis served as a Director in Hilltop Securities’ Capital Markets division, opening, and managing their Memphis office. He opened with just himself, when the firm was Southwest Securities, Inc., growing the office to thirteen sales, trading and public finance bankers before Hilltop bought Southwest Securities. His previous experience includes 17 years as an Executive Vice President and Branch Manager at a Little Rock firm where he was involved with all levels of sales, secondary municipal tax-exempt and taxable trading, competitive underwriting and opening public finance, as well as the first branch office in New Orleans. He also assisted in developing and managing the firm’s retail sales, equity, UIT and mutual fund departments. He joined the firm as the thirteenth employee with $400,000.00 in capital and left with over one hundred employees and $22,000,000.00 in capital. After that he opened a Memphis based firm public finance department with five people, to grow to twelve people in five offices while completing over six hundred issues in the first five years. From there he, managed all sales, trading, underwriting and public finance outside of Texas for a Houston based firm. Mr. McGinnis was the majority owner, Chairman, President & CEO of Hattier, Sanford & Reynold, Inc., the oldest independent Broker-Dealer in Louisiana.
As a registered representative with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Mr. McGinnis holds the following licenses: Series 7, 52, 53, 63 and 24.
Michael proudly serves as a member of the University of Memphis, Fogelman College of Business and Economics Advisory Board since 2017 and the TMA-Turnaround Management Association. He also served on the city of Germantown, Tennessee’s Financial Advisory and Environmental Commission Committees from 2021-2022.
